RULES AND REGULATIONS
OPEN FORMS COMPETITION
1. All open forms are permitted.
2. All competitors must perform a rank appropriate form.
OPEN WEAPON FORMS COMPETITION
1. All open weapon forms are permitted.
2. All competitors must perform a rank appropriate form.
Scoring will be based on:
Concentration 20% 2 points
Balance 20% 2 points
Grace 20% 2 points
Strength 20% 2 points
Overall Performance 20% 2 points
Three Judges will administer scores.
POINT SPARRING COMPETITION
1. All competitors must have headgear, mouthpiece, shin pads & foot pads (or shin and instep pads), chest guard (optional), groin cup (male). Any competitor without any one of these required and mandatory pieces of equipment (at the time of his/her match) will be disqualified.
2. The first competitor to score 3 points wins the match. All legal targets will score 1 point. This is point sparring, not continuous sparring.
3. Competitors ages 7 and under may only strike the front of the torso with kicks and punches.
4. Competitors ages 8-12 (blue belt and above) will be allowed controlled kicks to the head. No competitors below blue belt are allowed kicks to the head.
5. Competitors ages 12 and up (blue belt and above) and all black belts will be allowed controlled punches to the head. Maximum 2 punches then the competitor must throw a kick.
SUMO COMPETITION
1. The first competitor to score 3 points wins.
2. A point is scored when: (1) You push or throw your opponent out of the ring or (2) Your opponent touches the floor with any part of their body other than their hands and feet.
3. The referee will call the competitors to the line and then say "Sumo 1" the competitors will stomp one foot. On "Sumo 2" the competitors will stomp the other foot. On "Sumo 3" either competitor can begin the match by placing both hands on the mat.
